Appears to be in his late teens, but is actually a good
50 years older than that. Part human, part dog youkai, Inuyasha is a hanyou of great strength if not great
impatience. Having survived for years without parents or anyone who really cared for him, Inuyasha is weary
of anyone who treats him kindly or with respect. Fifty years ago he met up with the Miko, Kikyo, who taught
him of the existence of the Shikon no Tama which she was protecting. He grew close to Kikyo, wanting to
stay at her side, but both were betrayed by Naraku and Kikyo sealed him to the sacred tree with an arrow through his heart.
Kagome awakened him and freed him from the tree. He mistook her for the woman who sealed him away,
then noticed the difference in her scent. Conceding to the fact that she was not Kikyo, Inuyasha agreed
to help her, although grudgingly. At first he joined with her to seek the Shikon no Tama shards in order
to become full youkai, to never be weak again. But after having found his feelings for Kagome growing into
a deep affection Inuyasha is no longer certain what he will do once the jewel is restored. For the longest
time the hanyou continued to harbor a strong affection for the departed then resurrected Miko, then began to realize
that his affection was more a duty to protect her than actual love. That tender emotion, he learned, was
what drew him to Kagome. Inuyasha is highly protective of the girl from the future, protecting her from
all harm, and becomes petulant with jealousy when she shows attention to any other male except him. Once
a month, during the new moon, Inuyasha becomes full human. He now fears these moments since these monthly
occurrences are the only times when he cannot defend Kagome from a world that would see her dead.
