Buddhist priest of great skill, Miroku is also not your average houshii.  This holy man also has an incurable penchant for the fairer sex, often displaying this lecherous appreciation by caressing the posteriors of the lovely women he crosses.  But do not judge Miroku too harshly, he has a good reason for wanting to bed every lovely woman he sees and it has much more to do than just raging hormones.  Miroku’s family was cursed by Naraku, beginning with his grandfather.  Naraku opened a void in his right hand that swallows everything up indiscriminately.  With time, this void grows larger and larger until the prayer beads that keep it sealed can no longer contain it and it swallows up the bearer.  Miroku’s grandfather and father perished to the void and Miroku, being childless, feels the need to sire a son to take up the battle should he fail in destroying Naraku.  He feels fondest for Sango, despite the fact she hits him over the head each time he gets that look on his face.
